Shelley King is the owner and chief executive puppeteer of Puppeteria. She uses the magic of puppets as a workshop facilitator, entertainer, artist, social change agent, and on-line educator. Over the past two decades, Shelley has used her playful and interactive approach to teach and entertain thousands of people of all ages and abilities.
Shelley brings together her training in social work, family supports, developmental services, puppetry, clowning and expressive arts to create a unique blend of workshop experiences custom-designed for each group. Her creative presentations have been enjoyed at conferences, children’s camps, women’s retreats, elementary and secondary schools, colleges, not-for-profit organizations, hospices, and seniors' homes.
Alan King is a master woodworker, woodcarver, vehicle loader, and sounding board for Puppeteria. He mixes fun, creativity and a steadfast practicality to the puppet stages, marionettes, props, and sets he builds for Puppeteria workshops and performances. Al has taught thousands of children, from 5 to 85 years of age, the joys of creating with wood. When he’s not holding tools, Al is happy to pick up a puppet and join in the show.
“Al is the best woodworker ever! He’s funny and patient and does good work.”

Linda is a qualified Child and Youth Worker and Elementary School Teacher. Her early career was spent working and teaching in the area of children’s mental health. Passionate about differentiated instruction, Linda is keen to inspire other educators and mental health professionals to enhance the lives of the young people they work with. Linda’s children’s book, “Know Me” is featured in Puppeteria’s most recent educational workshop. Linda believes that student success lies in the consideration of each child’s unique emotional and learning needs. Her purpose with Puppeteria is to tap into those needs through the creative use of puppets!
“I highly recommend inviting Puppeteria into your classroom. This workshop integrated the arts with character education and a positive message of acceptance. The students were engaged, and a creative and fun experience was had by all.”
